Houshin Engi Manga

At the heart of Houshin Engi is a 23 volume manga by the well known Ryu Fujisaki. This series has an excellent style and beautifully detailed art. It's one of the original major mangas to countless readers, and the complexities of the story are so in depth and intriguing that no other adaption has been able to capture them in their full glory.

Throughout the years this manga has also seen several releases. We'll include a thumbnail gallery for the different volumes and what you can expect from their series rerelease.

Tankobon Release

This set, published by Jump Comics is the original series release. The covers showcase a lot of the manga's original style, simple but still quite detailed. There are 23 volumes in all, and they're not too expensive to collect these days.

Kanzenban Release

The Kanzenban was an unexpected rerelease at the time, but what readers were even more shocked by was the stunning artwork that covered each volume. Much of this art would later be featured in Ryu Fujisaki's original art book, Putitakityu. They feature all of the original full color art and even some new stuff, also featured in the Putitakityu book. This release consists of 18 volumes.

Bunkoban Release

The Bunkoban, often shortened to "Bunko" editions, are smaller more economically friendly volumes of the manga. They're usually compressed formats, both printed in a smaller size and packing more of the manga into fewer volumes. That's the case with Houshin Engi as well, only the beautiful color spreads are no longer printed in the high gloss paper, but instead are printed in black and white. This release consists of only 12 volumes.
